She did her best to listen politely to Louisa, though it took quite some effort to not interrupt. Some of what she said made sense, but other parts of it seemed overblown. It was only her two beliefs about art, one was that each person was free to their own interpretation, and two was that everyone deserved to have thier opinions heard with an open mind.
As Louisa finished speaking Ashlyn just shook her head. "Yes but the message, or theme as you call it, is more of a detriment to society than it is a benefit, which is what art was originally intended for." she paused. "I just can't find any meaning in your art , to me it seems its purpose is to get people to buy stuff, which isn't art so much as marketing." She tried to choose her words carefully to avoid offending her roommate again, but she coldn't think of a kinder way to say this.
The Chef had said something which might mean that they would be done soon, but to Ashlyn, soon enough wasn't soon enough.

Louisa couldn't help but laugh, "You do realize that all those sweet ads about saving children in Africa and 'please recycle' that you see in newspapers and magazines and even on TV sometimes have models in them, right?" Louisa finished her meal and leaned forward so she was a little closer to Rebecca, flashing the girl her best smile before continuing, "I mean, sure the main purpose to to try and get people to buy certain things or to look a certain way but it is for more difficult than putting on some outfit and standing in front of a camera. It takes a talent and confidence that most people don't possess." She rolled her eyes and sat still a moment before finishing, "The reason you do not understand is because it is a talent you do not hold in your possession. It's really a shame too, you could really have been quite a successful model had you the ability to show confidence in yourself and what you do."

This isn't going anywhere. Ashlyn reflected. Louisa still irked her, and had even pricked her pride a little, but it had become clear to her that neither was going to be able to convince the other.
When Louisa mentioned how she cold be a model Ashlyn simply rolled her eyes. "Mighty good thing I'm not more confident then". She snided. Her gaze flicked away from Louisa but she remained facing her. She smiled. This is definitely going in the journal. The more she thought about it, the more excited she became. She looked at Louisa again, her head cocked again and the half-smile on her lips. She would make a great character, and why not use her? She needed a fresh idea, and Louisa would fascinating to write about. I suppose I ought to feel grateful to her, for becoming my inspiration. She almost laughed at the thought.
The one downside was that now Ashlyn would have to keep her talking so she could find out more about her. "And to answer your question, I've heard of Yuina, though I don't know much about her." Her tone actually seemed to contain a bit of energy as she replied. "I don't suppose you could enlighten me?." She looked up at a sound in the kitchen. Could the food possibly be done? she wondered.
OOC: I am sensing a character arch for Ashlyn to learn to respect modeling, but that will be in the far in the future.

Louisa narrowed her eyes. She was becoming slightly suspicious of this girl who, not five minutes ago had wanted nothing to do with Louisa but was now instigating the conversation as if she were trying to figure something out. Being who she was, Louisa simply ignored it, though, and continued talking, "Sakuraba Yuina is only the most kind person you could ever meet. She is a spokesperson for a Japanese charity called sasayaku. It means whisper, basically their equivalent of out Make a Wish Foundation. She is a model and a damn good one at that. How could you possibly not harbor respect for a woman who used her beauty and talent as a model to promote something so pure and wonderful?" Louisa, personally was never going to model for something like that. She was more interested in the business marketing side of modeling but that didn't make the profession any less admirable.

Curiosity sparked within Ashlyn at Louisa's reply. It was clear to her that Louisa obviously respected this person and what she did, yet she found it interesting that she had to drawn in what other's did, instead of relaying her own actions.
"Because I don't know what her motivations are." Ashlyn Answered, doing her best to keep her voice formal and polite. "Many a good things have been done by people with less than noble intentions. However,"She paused, putting careful emphasis on her next sentence. "I concede that you would know more about this girl than I, since I have never met her, and that anything you say would probably be more accurate than any judgment I could make."
She stopped there again, gathering her thoughts, and when she spoke again her voice took ona quieter quaility "Besides, there are exceptions, often many, to any generalization about many group. But my opinion about the group as the whole, remains the same."
She looked up to see someone bringing Louisa's food, but whther the dumplings were done yet or not, she wasn't sure.

Louisa narrowed her eyes, a little irked by this girl who didn't seem to understand her explanation at all, "What motivations, exactly, could she have that would make the action of promoting sasayaku a bad thing? It's not as if she is secretly harboring a horrible hatred for these children and wishing for their deaths." Louisa shivered at the disgusting thought. It almost made the food in front of her look gross. But her stomach rumbled in protest and she took a bite anyway.

The chef informed her that her food would be a few more minutes. She was disappointed, but that would give her more time to interrogate Louisa, for that was what she was essentially doing. "joy." she mumbled sarcastically under her breath.
Actually, despite, Louisa's growing hostilities, Ashlyn found that she was enjoying the conversation very much, at least parts of it. Louisa's response had reminded Ashlyn that, despite everything she disliked about this girl, they're were still many positive qualities about her. Add she had to make sure she discovered and included as many of these positive traits as she could, or she wouldn't have a believable character. She also found that she was starting to harbor a certain- respect- for the passionate way Louisa defended her views, even if she herself found these views to be rathered skewered.
It was with these new realizations in mind, as well as her original revulsion, that led her to reply. "Appearances are important." Something I know only too well. Ashlyn reflected grimly as she intently waited for her response.

This was all Louisa wanted to hear. She put a smug look of her pale face and replied, "And with that I win this argument!" Whether or not Rebecca actually understood what Louisa meant didn't even occur to the model as she gloated to herself how smart and wonderful she is. She also made a mental note mention her wonderfulness to her twin later that day, "Being a model is art!"

Too late Ashlyn realized her mistake. She frowned lightly, wondering if she ought to tell Louisa what she really meant. She watched Louisa gloat over her supposed victory and decided she din't really care. Plus, her food had arrived. She rolled her eyes and let a brief look of disgust flash acroos her face before examing the dumplings.
She viewed the steaming dish the chef placed before her with moderate interest. In all of her musings she'd fprgtten how hungry she was, which was pretty hungry. She took the first bite, and after a moment, let a smile creep up on her face. It may not have been as good as her friend's, but it was certainly a worthy match. She ate quickly, all the while ignoring Louisa. There was still more she would like to know about her, but she had about all she could take from that girl for one day. Afterall, they were roomates, there would be plenty more opportunities.
Only after she had finished did she look up at Louisa. They're weren't many kind things she like to say right now, but it seamed she had to say something. Thank's for showing me the kitchens. she grumbled.

When Rebecca didn't respond, Louisa glared at her wishing she could wallow in her triumph a little longer. Unfortunately, that wasn't on Rebecca's to do list so the blonde had to turn and focus on her food for a few more moments. She felt like she hadn't eaten in a week and when she actually started consuming her salad, she wished she had gotten more. Glancing at her watch, she realized that it was almost time for the meal to be served in the dining room so she let sleeping dogs lie and watched as her plate was taken away by a sous chef.
The head chef made his way over the to table for one final goodbye, giving Louisa an air kiss on the cheek that made him seem so french you could almost see the twirly black mustache over his upper lip. When her roommate spoke, Louisa made herself turn to look at her, trying not to be too rude. A difficult feat considering she had decided against liking the girl almost immediately, "Thanks for showing me the kitchens." Rebecca said with a look in her eye that made Louisa feel like she was being mentally spit on. Louisa rolled her eyes and stood up, brushing out her jeans carefully before responding, "Yeah, yeah. The key will be in the table drawer between our beds. Come here whenever just don't include me." She said as they both got ready to leave the kitchen.

No problem. Ashlyn thought with a smug smile, though she didn't say it out loud. She followed Louisa silently out. She really wanted her journal, but she didn't want to stay in the dorm, not when Louisa might be there.
"I'm going to swing by the room but then I'll be off." She said, figuring that Louisa would enjoy the idea that she didn't have to put up with Ashlyn any longer. She would rather write in her room were their wouldn't be people around, but better people than Louisa, considering what she was going to write about.

Upon hearing of Rebecca's plans to swing by the room, Louisa decided she would probably be better of not following her. After all, too much time with an idiot and they might start rubbing off on you. So instead, Louisa started racking her brain for something else to do. She walked out into the hallway and saw the fancy signs that showed the directions to each of the different wings. She grinned before pointing at the sign, "I'm gunna head off to do some self study." She said before taking off down the hallway.
